Latest Update: The Government of Canada announced a series of adjustments to the current border measures, the most significant to date. Effective April 1, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. EDT, fully vaccinated travellers do not need to complete a pre-entry test (they may still be selected for random tests on arrival but are not required to quarantine). Data and Intelligence

As part of our mandate, we are committed to sharing data and intelligence to help inform plans into the future. We are working with industry, Meetings Mean Business Canada (MMBC), the Convention Centres of Canada (CCOC), the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC) and the Travel Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) to collect data on the impact of COVID19 on Canada’s business events industry, which we will share within and across the Federal family and with our DMOs and other counterparts.

Canada's Business Events Restart Recovery Framework

Building off research projects conducted in 2020, we are pleased to share our report on Canada’s Business Events Restart Recovery Framework. This document provides an update on the current impact of business events and a forward look at recovery and restart, including:

  • Business Events: State of the industry – an update on the impacts of covid-19
  • Insight from a global business events scan – summary findings from our recent research project where we heard from executive directors, planners, industry associations and Canadian partners that have informed how we prepare for a post COVID-19 resumption of events
  • Canada’s recovery restart framework – an evidence-based approach to track early signals of the resumption of business events in order to support planning and our industry deliver the right activities at the right time.

Business Events COVID-19 Impact Report

The Canadian business events community is facing unprecedented challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We know that research is required to guide our collective response so we can make evidence-based decisions. We are working with industry partners, Meetings Mean Business Canada (MMBC), the Convention Centres of Canada (CCOC), the Destination Marketing Association of Canada (DMAC) and the Travel Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) to collect data on the impact of COVID-19 on Canada’s business events industry.

The research below will quantify the impacts of COVID-19 on Canada’s business events economy on an ongoing basis—check back often for updated reports.
