Historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver Reveals Luxurious Heritage Suite Renovation
The historic Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, known as the “Castle in the City,” has completed a renovation to its 14th floor heritage suites. Drawing inspiration from the age of luxury travel, visiting monarchs, elaborate garments, brocade fabrics, and royal tapestries, the design commemorates the city’s monumental Royal Visit by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, who stayed at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver during its grand opening in 1939.
A Luxurious Hospitality Experience in the Heart of Vancouver
Restoring this heritage property required a meticulous and thoughtful approach. Imperative to the design: the property’s historical significance being preserved, while selectively updating elements to appeal to the sensibilities of today’s modern traveler.
The floor’s two main master suites – the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite and the Royal Suite – are each distinct in their design aesthetics: gilded and lacquered finishes, bespoke furniture, rich fabrics, layered carpets and wallcoverings, warm woods, and custom millwork, set the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite apart with design influences from Art Deco stylings. The art of entertaining is unmistakable in this suite, which was historically used for official meetings and social gatherings.
By contrast, the Royal Suite presents a lighter and classically contemporary atmosphere: opulent and sophisticated finishes, a spacious master bathroom outfitted in marble, offers a tranquil spa-like experience and respite from the city’s hustle and bustle.
